Actual size is 19 inches wide, 17 inches tall, width is about 3 inches empty. At best one suit, shirt, works good in this bag otherwise it gets a bit much to lug around. Good for an overnight business trip or two nights at most. Can probably be crammed under most airline seats. The outside pockets with the buckles are apparently meant for ?? shoes. The pockets are deep so they will not work for small items like cell phones etc. Would be better with one big pocket on the outside with a zipper for papers/documents etc. I don't like the buckles makes it look to...trendy? You can also unzip the suit bag part and stick an ipad or other device or items in there. The back zipper is where the backpack straps are stowed. They do not detach so you are stuck with them in that compartment. But you could also store items in that pocket. The inside suit bag also has two pockets. You can actually access them from opening the main suit bag zipper.
I bought this for overnight (or two) business trips as I travel a lot and wanted a single bag to carry. I can wear the suit pants, put an extra shirt and suit coat in the bag and also fit my ipad in there. I just don't care for the buckles so I am not sure if I will keep it. They almost got it right.
